If dh ever buggers off on another stag weekend when the children are sick I will DIVORCE HIM!!!
The frustrating thing is, neither party is really at fault. R and G can’t help being ill and dh and the groom to be couldn’t have foreseen this when the jolly to Barcelona was booked all those months ago.
So, I’m almost through the long weekend without dh. It’s been tough. I will be eternally grateful to my parents and sister coming over yesterday afternoon because if they hadn’t I might be going a bit mental by now. They were marvellous, although I hope Mum and Dad aren’t permanently damaged by the saga that is bedtime at the moment. I had honed it to a fine 30-40 minute art before the girls got colds and the last three nights it’s taken almost two hours each time to feed them and get them ready for bed. They are clearly hungry but are struggling to co-ordinate breathing and sucking, which means that every ounce, every mouthful is an achievement.
Although feeding time is tough, generally they (R and G, not my parents!) aren’t too under the weather, despite the snot factory and the lovely, fulsome, fragrant nappies. They are still quite smiley and chatty but aren’t quite the ticket. I got about 6 hours sleep on Friday night between sorting the girls out but last night they slept really well – that or I was so knackered that I passed out and didn’t hear them – so hopefully they will sleep ok tonight.
I am actually pleased to be going back to work tomorrow. An evil bit of me thinks I should work late for the next three days to avoid having to deal with bedtime as a punishment for dh but I know I’ll start missing the girls and want to see them, even if they are super grumpy. I bet they will be back to their usual snot-free, milk guzzling, sunny selves by tomorrow and dh won’t believe how tough it’s been this weekend.
Can someone invite me to a hen weekend so I can get my own back?!
