Absolutely nothing! We took the girls to be weighed this morning. As the HVs has no parking nearby and doesn’t allow buggies in, taking R and G is a two person job. I’m reliant on dh being around and this means that we don’t go as often as we probably should. In fact, it is rare that we get there once a month.

The girls have both gained weight, but R has gained very little (8oz) since we went over a month ago. I’m not terribly surprised as she has been off her bottles a bit with the teething but I am quite concerned about it. She has steadily grown along the 25th centile on the charts since she was born and has now dropped down to just above the 9th. I expressed my concern to the HV and she said ‘Oh it’s a phase – we go through phases where we don’t want to eat very much and then we eat lots and it’s the same with babies’. She didn’t even want to explore the reasons with me and I left feeling quite distressed.

Dh asked if the girls could be measured (R has been a little shorter than G and we wanted to see if this was still the case) and was given fairly short shrift. A man with man parts and man attitudes attending baby clinic?! How very dare he!

I just have this vision of R always being smaller than G and it reminds me of the film ‘Twins’ with the short fat one and the massive one. Ok, so the weight difference is 10oz now but R was bigger at birth and I don’t like the thought of her being left behind.

Also, why do people with ONE PERFECTLY NORMAL BABY insist on talking to the HV for HOURS?! No that’s not a rash, it’s where he’s scratched himself in his sleep. No, his legs are the same length as each other and they don’t need to be measured twice to check. If the nappy rash isn’t clearing up try and different cream. No, his head is not mis-shapen, he’s just INCREDIBLY UGLY!!!

I didn’t mean the last bit, honest!
