7.15pm. The girls are in bed screaming their heads off. Again. I’ve just sat on the loo and had a good cry. I’ve been in to see them twice. I’ve turned the monitor down. I can still hear the live action version. I can’t face going up there again and failing. Again.
Today was a good day until about half an hour ago. I was working at home and dh was around until mid-afternoon so I was able to get some work done this morning. The girls have had a fairly relaxed, chilled-out day. They’ve eaten well, played lots and I took them out for a nice walk to the park late this afternoon. They’ve napped well, which they don’t do at nursery.
This evening, they polished off their milk at the usual time and in their customary fashion and started rubbing their faces, a sure sign of their tiredness. They were very happy and smiley when they went to bed. I went through the usual ‘night night shh’ routine and when I came downstairs all was quiet. Not for long though.
I’m hoping that just leaving them to get on with it for a little bit longer will help. Frankly, I think I’m peeing in the wind here. It’s not quite as bad as last night, but the cumulative effect of three stressful night times is starting to get me down. The saving grace (ho ho) is that once they go to sleep (eventually), they tend to sleep through. I’ll still be going to bed at 9.30 though, just to be on the safe side.
