R has had a cold for the last few days and has developed a rather rattly cough. On Sunday night, she coughed so much that she started wheezing loudly like an old man with an 80 a day woodbine habit. She got quite distressed and wouldn’t drink any water or milk so we phoned NHS Direct for advice.
Dh told the nurse what was wrong and she asked if she could listen to the noises that R was making. Dh told the phone to R’s mouth and she immediately stopped wheezing and said ‘Awooooo ooo ahooo’. We both started giggling and the poor nurse probably thought it was a wind-up call. I’m convinced that R was trying to say ‘Hello, I’m fine. My parents are just really paranoid’. We gave her some calpol and she slept through, unlike her (completely fine) sister, but that’s another story.

Hehe Jo, that is just typical. We had an episode where Sam stopped breathing. The full turning blue, lifeless kind. I had to resusitate him whilst waiting for the ambulance. He was very poorly but once he arrived in A&E he sat up on the bed and started wildly laughing and crawling about! So much for a baby critically ill, he made such a marvellous recovery that I thought the A&E staff would think I had made it all up if it hadn't been for the ambulance crew to back up my story! Little munchkins our babies are!!!
